Get the beta

SignalDeck is in public beta. Builds are published on GitHub, and once it is installed the app finds later builds itself.

Public beta

For testing: bugs are expected. SignalDeck needs a rooted phone (Magisk) and takes direct control of its radio module.

It is provided as is, without warranty (GPL v3). The author is not responsible for any damage to your phone, its radio or your data. Transmitting legally (licence, frequencies, power) is your responsibility.

Install sequence5 steps
  1. Root the phone with Magisk and install the APK.

Rooting is different on every phone. Follow the Magisk installation guide for yours; it usually needs an unlocked bootloader, which can erase the phone.

  2. Open SignalDeck and grant root. It imports your stock app's channels on first start.

SignalDeck switches the stock walkie-talkie app off while it owns the radio.

  3. Device → Keep access after reboot makes radio access permanent.

It installs a small Magisk module, so SignalDeck takes the radio back after every reboot.

  4. Add more channels.

Open a CHIRP CSV with SignalDeck, use the share button on the Channels page, or restore a backup.

  5. To hand the radio back, use Device → Exit SignalDeck.

It switches the module off, or gives the radio back to the stock app.

Before you installRequirements
  • A phone from the supported list, or one you are willing to test.
  • Android 10 or newer.
  • Root with Magisk.
  • An amateur radio licence to transmit on ham bands. Listening needs none in most countries.

What changed in each build →

In the app, Device → Updates checks GitHub for newer builds and shows what changed since your version. There is no full release yet, so every build is a beta; the newest is 1.0.0-beta.20. All builds are also on GitHub Releases.
